Mobile Unit Driver- Part Time

Salus University is seeking a skilled professional to fill the position of Part Time Mobile Unit Drive. Expected hours a week range from 1-3 days for a total of 8-24 hours. The hours will vary depending on community outreach activity. 

Primary Function: To operate the Salus University mobile unit in safe, reliable and efficient manner to meet the needs of the University's community based activities.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate the University mobile unit safely and efficiently, transporting University staff and students to and from destinations and related activities, in compliance with federal, state and local regulations
  • Conduct comprehensive pre and post trip inspections to ensure safe operation conditions and bus cleanliness
  • Document all mechanical malfunctions and equipment damage on pre and post trip log and turn in to facilities to be addressed
  • Verify the trip itinerary at the time of loading to ensure all parties are aware of details and times
  • Oversee and assist in the loading and unloading of passengers and equipment set up, as well as the safe storage and securement of equipment and supplies
  • Allow only authorized passengers on the bus and reports unauthorized passengers to the health team leader (Doctor providing care)
  • Manage the conduct of passengers to ensure passenger safety
  • Maintain professional appearances in accordance with the University's dress code policy
  • Present a positive role model for patrons that supports the goals of the University including working effectively with the health care team, members of the community who are served on the mobile unit, as well as University personnel who prepare the vehicle for service
  • Exhibit good judgement in decision-making and problem solving and suggest ways to improve safety, efficiency and productivity for services provided on the vehicle
  • Promptly report to work when schedule, uses time wisely to ensure productivity and efficient, adheres to trip schedules meeting the needs of the staff and patients served, and attends staff training as needed
  • Maintains neat, legible and accurate records and documentation as required
  • Follow the chain of command as described by the job description and comply with all University policies and procedures.

Knowledge, Education, Skill and Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years of commercial, fire apparatus or Motor Home driving experience
  • No driving license suspensions in the past ten years
  • No driving convictions related to alcohol or illegal drugs
  • Safe driving record for the last five years
  • Good character and positive work history
  • Ability to read and interpret GPS, maps, and other navigational systems
  • Exceptional communications and interpersonal skills

Other Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • CDL license for at least 5 years

Certificate or License Required:

  • Valid driver’s license in state of residence with acceptable driving history.

Hourly Rate: $25
